FEDERER & NADAL RENEW RIVALRY, DJOKOVIC & MURRAY SHOWDOWN SET AT BARCLAYS ATP WORLD TOUR FINALS

LONDON –  Defending champion Roger Federer will meet Rafael Nadal in round-robin play at this year’s Barclays ATP World Tour Finals at The O2 in a replay of their thrilling three-set 2010 final. Today’s draw ceremony at BBC Radio 5 Live studios, which was broadcast and streamed live, also pitted World No. 1 Novak Djokovic with British No. 1 Andy Murray in Group A.

Federer, who takes a 12-match winning streak into the tournament, including consecutive titles at the Swiss Indoors Basel and the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris, seeks to become the first player in history to win the season finale six times. The Swiss won the title in 2003-04, 2006-07 and in 2010, when he joined Pete Sampras and Ivan Lendl as the only five-time winners of the event.

BERDYCH, TSONGA, FISH COMPLETE 2011 BARCLAYS ATP WORLD TOUR FINALS SINGLES FIELD

LONDON –  Tomas Berdych, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Mardy Fish will complete the singles player field at the 2011 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, to be held  November 20-27 at The O2 in London, featuring the world’s Top 8 singles players and doubles teams.
All three players were guaranteed their place among the world’s Top 8 following results at the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris on Thursday after Berdych defeated Janko Tipsarevic. Berdych, Tsonga and Fish join a star-studded line up including Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Roger Federer and David Ferrer at The O2 in London.
Berdych, who made his debut last year in London, going 1-2 in round robin play, is the first player from the Czech Republic to finish in the Top 10 in back-to-back seasons since Petr Korda in 1991-92.
Tsonga will be making his second career appearance at the season-ending event, having also qualified for the tournament in 2008. The Frenchman enjoyed a strong run of form in London earlier this season, reaching the final of the AEGON Championships at The Queen’s Club (l. to Murray) before reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledonwith a memorable 5-set comeback win over Roger Federer in the quarter-finals.
